Where Are They Getting All These Leads?

Hey reader,

Did you ever notice that some businesses just seem to have it figured out. Their phones ring. Their inboxes stay full. You see them everywhere. And you’re left wondering, how are they getting all these leads without running ads nonstop?

Here’s the truth: they probably didn’t pay for most of them. Not at first. If your lead pipeline is quiet, there are still plenty of free ways to get in front of the right people. You just have to know where to show up and what to say once you’re there.

  • Start with vertical directories. Think The Knot, WeddingWire, Houzz, Avvo, Thumbtack. Most offer free listings. If your branding is sharp and your offer is clear, that might be all you need to get noticed.

  • Look into forums and niche communities. Go beyond Reddit. Find industry-specific groups, software user forums, or Slack channels where your people gather and be helpful.

  • Comment with value. Not to go viral, just to show up. Thoughtful replies on blog posts, podcast episodes, or LinkedIn threads can build surprising traction.

  • Your Google Business Profile still works if you’re using it. And if you’ve got a business address, Apple Maps is worth claiming too.

  • Still stuck? Just ask. Friends, past clients, peers. One intentional message can go further than you think.
